Using a Distribution Map for Textures and Ecosystems
In this tutorial you will see how to use a distribution map to drive both the texture and the ecosystem. This will allow you to put your textures where they should be and the ecosystem objects only where you want them to be. I found a few quirks which are listed on the last page. Doing things this way gives you much more control over your image and also allows you to plan the layout of your scene in black and white... The maps and textures used in the tutorial are not the same as I used in the final image, but they are the rough drafts.
